Baraja: "tHE TEAM kePT going AND COMPETED UNTIL THE END"
The Valencia CF coach talks after the 2-2 result against Deportivo Alavés
First words from the VCF forward after signing his contract extension with Valencia CF
Valencia CF's attacker Diego López has spoken to VCF Media after signing his contract extension with Valencia CF.
Signing the contract extension
"I'm very pleased to extend my contract by another year, through to 2027. Everybody around me knows that I'm very happy at Valencia CF, and I hope that I'm here for many more years to come".
Development in the first team
"I couldn't have imagined this a year ago, because it was this time last year that our group of players under Baraja broke through to the first team. A lot has changed, above all for the better. I've achieved a lot of dreams and I hope to keep making them come true here at Valencia CF".
Youngsters' breakthrough
"It's been a very intense year. A lot of things have happened. At the end of last season, it was tough, but the entire team responded well. We got through it, and I think that this season we've done a great job, and this has been reflected in the table. We're very happy and I myself am very pleased, so we have to keep going like this".
Family
"We've put together a very good group and we've been saying that all year. That's been one of the keys to us being where we are in the table. We're all very close in the dressing room and we're a family. That's helping us a lot this year to achieve our aims. The entire team are pulling in the same direction".
Baraja/ Academy graduates
"We need to play with the same freedom that we have had, without any pressure. The coach knows that. He knows that we are grateful -not just us young players, but the rest of the team as well. He and the coaching staff are doing a wonderful job that has put us where we are".
Valencia CF's link with Asturias
"There's a good relationship between Asturias and Valencia CF. I'm far from comparing myself to Angulo or Villa, because they are two legendary players here, but I hope that in the future people remember me as somebody who worked hard every day to be spoken of alongside them".
Commitment
"I'm a very intense player who goes in for the ball. I took an unlucky knock, but I'd do it again. I've been fitted with irons there so I don't think it will break, so I'll do what is required".
Great support from the Valencia CF fanabase
"At the end of last season, with the situation we were in, the fans were great. It's easy to support in the good times, but in the bad times it's tougher, and they responded. They show that every game at Mestalla, that love that they have for us and for Valencia CF. I hope we place as high up the table as possible, and you help us a lot. Thank you".
